BMW K-Series description

I bought this bike brand new in 2005 and have put 39,855 delightful miles on it. If you are shopping for this bike, you already know all the features so I won't repeat them here. But I've added a couple things which I've enjoyed:

- BMW highway pegs. Fold-out from fairing, stow invisibly. Great for changing leg position on long rides.
- Trailer hitch and wiring harness. I towed a pop-up Time-Out camper. 323 pounds. Never even felt it back there.
- Luggage rack and custom bag. Great extra storage.
- BMW custom soft bags. Shaped to fit perfectly in the trunk and side storage.

I put a new battery in this spring. I put new Metzler tires on it about 6,000 miles ago, they should go about 12,000 miles. Its 36,000-mile service is due. It's kind of a big one, like $1,300 or something, so I've adjusted my asking price to allow for that. The gas gauge stops going down when it reaches 1/2. I asked about that and they said they could replace the sender when they do the other service. It gets 50+ miles per gallon and holds 6 gallons, so the range is 300 miles. I just fill it up when the trip odometer reads 250. Always garaged. Includes two keys and remotes.

I checked with my insurance agent and they said it would be ok for interested parties to test drive it, my coverage would be in effect for those rides. The driver would need to have a motorcycle endorsement on their drivers license.

The bike is in Denver, Colorado, near Wadsworth and Alameda. Please email me here if you'd like to see it or if you have any questions.

NADA book value Average Retail is $11,828 and Low Retail is $8,991. I'm asking $8,999 and am open to offers. There are no loans or liens, I have clear title in-hand.

BMW S1000RR Valve Train Working at High RPM [video]

Tue, 23 Feb 2010

I’d like to ramble on about a dozen different things relating to this video, but the 3- minute, 19-second clip speaks for itself. However, once the engine is revving at high rpm, watching the cams, finger followers and valve springs seemingly freeze in action due to the incredible speeds, I was reminded of that whole “Dude, the faster I went the more everything around me seemed to slow down,” experience we’ve all heard about or experienced. Enjoy!
