Marco Melandri earned BMW its second ever World Superbike victory to move into second place in the championship standings behind Max Biaggi in the series’ only stop in the United States. Melandri won a red-flagged Race Two at Utah’s Miller Motorsports Park after finishing second to defending WSBK Champion Carlos Checa in Race One to give him 142.5 points on the season, tied with Kawasaki‘s Tom Sykes but behind Aprilia‘s Biaggi who leads the way with 160.5 points. BMW Scooter News Imminent?

BMW previously announced it will unveil two new scooter models at this fall’s EICMA Show in Milan, but the German manufacturer may have some news for us even sooner. BMW‘s global media site has a new section set up for scooter news. The section is empty at the moment, except for a subsection titled “Scooter Technology”.

The BMW CE 04 stands out from the crowd primarily for its futuristic appearance, which clearly echoes the previously demonstrated concept. In general, this is no longer a classic scooter, on which an electric motor and a battery were screwed instead of an engine, but a device that was built taking into account all the advantages of an "electric" design.
