1984 Bmw K-series on 2040-motos
Heathsville, Virginia, United States
BMW K-Series description
Offered for sale is this very unique piece of BMW history. This is a pre-production bike, used by BMW of North America for shows and magazine road tests, and to introduce the then new BMW K bikes, including the Vail Co dealer intro in 1984. This has all been certified by the BMW archives. This is a matching number bike with clear title, ready to transfer into the new owners name. Included with the bike are a number of NOS parts, including a new seat. This is a one yer only seat that was changed for the 1986 models when the seat grab handles were moved to the seat cowl. Also included is an NOS throttle body set & air flow sensor, which cost over $2,200 new from BMW today. A new dash housing, clock and gear indicator, along withe an NOS muffler & shield are also included. The original Madison Silver sidecovers came with the bike, but they had broken mounting tabs, so I found these replacement covers with 1984 date codes. Also included (but not shown) are a spare set of lower fairing covers to replace the ones on the bike, should you decide to restore without the front crash bars (also with 84 dates codes from the same donor bike as the sidecovers). A rare Nivomat rear shock is also included. At about $500 US then, these accessory shocks were almost 5% of the selling price of the bike. They made thousands and thousands of K bikes, and I'm not sure that all of them will skyrocket in value over time the way R69S's have done, but low vin and preproduction bikes are always desirable. Collectors have been quietly adding select models to their collections over the last 10 years, and this is your chance to add what may be the oldest surviving K bike in the world to your own collection. Please ask all questions before bidding, and have your finances lined up too. Payment is expected with 7 days of auction end, and the bike should be picked up/shipped within one month of auction end (negotiable - but let me know what you have in mind before bidding). Overseas sales are welcome, but I cannot help with shipping quotes. Personal checks are fine, but this will delay pickup/shipment. Paypal payment ONLY if you agree to use the Friends and Family option (which has no fees for either of us if you are paying from a checking account or Paypal balance). Good luck! Note: I can deliver this bike to the AMCA National at Rhinebeck NY on July 2nd for no charge if that is of interest. |

Will the road-going RCV look like this?
Thu, 25 Oct 2012Honda announced in a dry-as-you-like press release that a new bike was coming. Not another motorcycle-cum-medical aid like the DN-01 or Integra, this is going to be a proper bike. A bike in a similar vein to previous bikes in the RC series, the RC30, RC45 and RC51, aimed squarely at winning races. So what's it going to look like?
