Aprilia Dorsoduro SMV750 description

This is one incredible bike.  Being a serious buyer, I assume you have already done all the research on why this bike is a very fun to own as well as all its features.  I know this listing has a lot of information. My hope is that it makes for a more informed purchase decision.

I am the second owner of the motorcycle. I purchased the bike used in December 2009 from a local Aprilia dealer with approximately 2,500 miles on the clock.  I am an experienced rider and have been riding dirt bikes and motorcycles for 19 years. I am selling this motorcycle because my riding interests have recently shifted more to dualsport riding. I hate seeing this bike sit in my garage. I just put a new battery in it since the last one died due to sitting idle.

This bike has really only needed oil changes and tires - surprisingly low maintenance for an Italian thoroughbred. I aim for a 3,000 mile interval on oil and filter although Aprilia claims you can go 6,000. Current oil/filter change has about 1,500 miles on it. Tires have approximately 3000 miles on them. Air filter is clean and all lights work. I flushed the cooling system in mid-2013. I have checked the valve clearances twice since I have owned it. Both times all clearances have been within spec - there is one intake valve on the front cylinder that is on the lower end of spec, but has not changed since I purchased the bike (likely set up from the factory at the lower end of spec). The stock chain and sprockets are still on the bike and are in good condition. Brake pads and suspension are in condition as well. I have the following aftermarket parts that will be included in the purchase:
  • Leo Vince mid-pipe installed (I have the stock mid-pipe which will be included in the purchase)
  • Acerbis hand guards with integrated LED turn signals installed (I have the stock hand guards and turn signals)
  • Tail tidy license plate mount installed (I do not have the stock 'stinger' style mount, but I would hope no one would ever want to put that back on the bike)
  • I took off the big ugly charcoal canister - I am not sure if I still have it. If so, it will be included with purchase.
  • Rhino axle sliders installed
Other:
  • The bike was low sided on a wet canyon road. Fortunately, this was a very slow speed low side and the only resultant damage was scratches on the front fender, clutch fluid reservoir, and left rear exhaust heat shield. I have tried to represent these as accurately as possible in the pictures.
  • I only have one ignition key
  • I had to rewire the ignition bezel due to the stock wire solder connections failing out of nowhere. This caused the bike to not recognize the key and would not allow the bike to be started. This has been fully corrected. I kept the bezel wire with some more slack in it to prevent this from happening again.
  • I do not know the computer master code - the dealer can likely get this code or flash the computer with a new one. I never tried this since I never had a reason to mess with the computer. This master code would be needed to program a new key.
I have a rear Trackside spool stand I can include in the purchase if desired.
I also have a Pit Bull hybrid dual lift front stand for an additional $150 if interested

Local pickup only.

That pretty much sums it up. Thank you for looking.

Matchless Making A Comeback With Model X, To Be Shown At EICMA

Tue, 09 Sep 2014

Legendary English marque, Matchless, is attempting to emulate another famous brand, Indian, by forming a comeback. After being purchased by the Malenotti family in 2012, the brand is now going through a revival. If you’re at all in tune with the fashion world, then the Matchless name might be familiar, as many A-list celebrities wear the Matchless-labeled clothing managed by Michele Malenotti.

Aprilia’s Banned AD [Pics and Video]

Fri, 08 May 2009

The Italian motorcycle company Aprilia withdrew this advert following complaints from the Women’s Institute of Spain, whose advertising monitoring wing considered it to be sexist. Tag translation: “The Arrecife Range: Now several sizes smaller”, I thought Europeans were hip to this kind of thing… Check out the uncensored photo and a controversial Aprilia TV AD after the jump. Not so bad.

EBR 1190 Wins 2011 European Superbike Championship

Wed, 02 Nov 2011

Harald Kitsch and the Pegasus Race Team has won its second championship on the EBR 1190RR, capturing the 2011 European Superbike open race class title. The championship follows Kitsch’s win in the 2010 Sound of Thunder V-Twin Championship on the Erik Buell Racing racebike. While the Sound of Thunder championship was won against other V-Twin machines, the European Superbike class included sportbikes from the Japanese Big Four, BMW, Aprilia and Ducati.
