Mattia Pasini Replaces Anthony West on Speed Master CRT for 2012 MotoGP Season

Claiming Rule Team Speed Master has named Mattia Pasini as the replacement for Anthony West for the 2012 MotoGP World Championship. Pasini, a successful Grand Prix racer with 10 wins and 26 podium finishes in the 125cc and 250cc World Championships, will ride the team’s Aprilia-developed CRT machine. He replaces West who was forced to withdraw after being unable to come up with the funding to pay for his ride.

Most of the other factory teams revealed their liveries weeks ago, but now that we’ve seen the “silver fireball” look the RSV4, we can say the wait was worth it. The Piaggio Group reported slight increases in net sales and net profit over the first six months of 2011 compared to the same period in 2010. Net sales increased 1.1% to 830 million euros (US$1.19 billion) over the first six months of 2011, compared to 820 million euros (US$1.18 billion) in the first half of 2010. Piaggio reported a net profit of 33.3 million euros (US$47.9 million), a slight increase from the net profit of 33.1 million euros (US$47.6 million) reported last year.
