Honda SUPER SPORT description
No need to Bring A Trailer to get this bike around. It even
has reverse! 1983 AMAZONAS 1600cc VW Powered Motorcycle. NOT A TRIKE! TWO (2) Wheel Motorcycle! $ speed with Reverse. Chain Drive. If you are Motorcycle Collector , into VW’s or Cool Motorcycle’s ? This is a Rare find! I understand that there will be a high likely hood this will
auction will attract bidders from other countries. If you have an interest to
bid from outside the USA? You will have to message me first if you want to bid.
ABOUT THE BIKE: So far, Our research indicates this is One ( 1 ) of Three ( 3 ) all Brazilian Amazonas bikes known to be in the USA, the other Two (2) Malcolm Forbes bought for his collection. Made in Brazil. The manufacture produced a claimed 450 of these motorcycles. Sold to the public in different configuration’s (Sport, Touring and such) to meet customer demands. They were also used as Highway Patrol, Police and Military Escort bikes. This bike is a 1983 “Super Esporte” model, otherwise known as a
“Super Sport”. This bike was in one of the largest Motorcycle Magazine's in the USA
(Rider Magazine) in June of 2015 in the Retrospection section where the author
writes about rare and unusual motorcycle’s. The author had wanted to get his
hands on, ride and write about this bike for decades. Rare in Brazil,
“EXTREMELY RARE” in the USA. To add to its rarity. In our research so far, this bike is
the only known Amazonas that is an actual Amazonas that was NOT brought into
the USA as a kit bike for special construction. Around a dozen kit bikes were
imported into a Texas distributors hands where you supplied the motor and trans
due to DOT and emissions reasons. Only a handful were actually sold and
assembled from what we can tell. This bike is a runner, has current California
Registration and Title. To add to the rarity of the bike, it only has at this
point in time 410 KM’s on the odometer. That in miles? Is only Two Hundred and
Fifty Five miles (255 miles) on the odometer. I do ride the bike so it will go up. The
previous owner told us they bought it and used it for a few rides and parked it
due to health/lifestyle changes. VW powered with a 1600 cc Dual Port Type 1 VW motor. Uses a
VW bus transmission giving 4 forward gear’s that you shift with at your left
foot like any other motorcycle does and a reverse gear that is a simple
movement of a lever on the right side. All the power to the rear wheel is thru
a chain drive. Due to the bike being parked and neglected for many year’s, it
is in all original patina. A true Barn/Shed find. We did not re-chrome or paint anything. This
bike is as original as can be as if you bought the bike from the manufacture in
Brazil and yet has only KM’s (that is 282 in miles) . The brake calipers and
lines along with master cylinders were
rebuilt. The electrical still needs sorting out. Has brake lights, running and blinkers when it wants to. The headlight
does not work. The tin’s (there are none) it is all fiberglass. The fuel tank
was lined in Caswells and is in excellent shape with new petcocks. Has new
ME888 tires, I also have the original Amazonas tires sold with the bike that
due to age were deemed not reliable to ride on. To watch it in a video, here it is at idle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DoE5NGSDwU OR type in “Amazonas at Idle” just scroll down till you see the bike and
click to view. Any questions? More than happy to try and help where I can.
