Honda Interceptor description
This is my favorite cycle as I have had about 15 in my life. The reason it is for sale: I live and work overseas. It has been in and out of storage for last 6 years. Currently it is out and am riding around, but it was not taken out last two summers. I know engines. Keeping a machine like this in storage is just a waste, and it is slowly destroying it. Machines need to be run.
I included some pictures of it's storage condition. Fuel drained, engine fogged, intakes sealed, lubed in many areas. Have done this many times. Put in new battery last week, and it started right up. Throttle cable is a little sticky, but it is running fine. Pictures also show that it is set up for touring. Have added a 12V charger plug, Ram mount and power cable for Garmin GPS, anti vibration bar ends (Throttlemeister? they were expensive). Added a power block and all are fused separately. Added fog lights at one time, but got rid of them. Tires are in great shape, front looks new. 2 years ago, before storage put on a new chain and sprocket and new fluids. Ebay is full of stories (believe what you want. My question is, how many cycles can be sold by "a Honda mechanic"?) so here is my story of what makes it special- I am only the second owner of this 20 yo cycle. The original owner was a middle aged Asian gentleman. Purchased it new, but only used it to ride from Chicago to Lake Geneva 1 or 2 times a year. He only put on 5k miles in 10 years. I put on 20k more from 2006 onwards doing cross country trips. The cycle has not given me any problems in all those miles. Have his original purchase records and service records. This is not a luxury toy that is being sold because some kid is tired of it. This is a great machine that has been used and well taken care of by owners that loved it. Each cycle I have owned, I learn everything I can through manual and forums. Done most of the routine maintenance myself- oil, brake pads, fluids, mods... The VFRworld.com forum is informative and fun. Have been to Honda rallies and the Honda owners are the best you will find. Not as big as HD, ha ha! What might depress the price for this cycle? Included pictures of a big chip out of one of the side panels, it is cracked, too. There is a big scratch (12inches?) on side of fuel tank. Cycle has never been wrecked or dropped at low speed. Was arrested on the side of the road (long story), cop called the tow truck. 18 yo kid had no idea how to load or secure a cycle. He crushed it with the straps, and it fell over anyway. The panel still fits and clips in properly, so it doesn't bother me. My internet research shows that VFR gen 4's are not going for much. That's a shame as this is one of the greatest Honda's ever made. The trend is for greater displacement (I haven't owned anything over 1000cc's) but this cycle will go as fast as you want it. The bags pop off with one hand, and you could take it to a track. The V-4 is a gem that Honda is still developing. The Elf single-sided swing arm is unique. I would keep this cycle for the rest of my life if I could live in the U.S. It is very sweet and civilized for daily use, can cross the continent, and can fly with the big boys. The cycle is located in South Suburbs of Chicago. If you want to stop and talk about it, email me at bagdad96@gmail.com I could discuss this cycle all day, and show you all the things I know about it. Have more pics, too. Have a manual, tool kit, and a cowl that covers the passenger seat if you want to look fast. Have other doodads for riding if you want to buy some stuff I don't need. If you want to tour, you can turn the key on this and take it anywhere. You will not be disappointed. **Edit for July 19** Just went through attic, cannot find original paperwork from first owner. I guess it just becomes an Ebay story. Did find the GPS unit- since power is wired to this specific unit, will sell it with moto if price is right. Unit is loaded with maps of the Middle East, if that attracts you! :-) |

Pedrosa, Marquez, Bradl Talk About Racing, Motorcycles, And Each Other
Fri, 05 Apr 2013In order to use footage from a Dorna-sanctioned MotoGP test session — say, for marketing or promotional reasons — a team must receive approval from Dorna. The process is tedious, and even if permission is granted, there are strict limitations as to what the material may or may not be used for. So when Honda decided to conduct its own private test (which Yamaha also joined), at the Circuit of the Americas, it was free from any and all Dorna mandates.
