2014 Yamaha YZF-R1 and YZF-R6 Race Blu Unveiled
Fri, 30 Aug 2013With the MotoGP world championship in Donington Park this weekend, Yamaha took the opportunity to reveal the 2014 version of its M1-inspired Race Blu liveries along with the 2014 YZF-R1, YZF-R6 and other sportbikes.
Before you read any farther, here’s the bad news. First, it does not appear as though either the R1 or the R6 received any other updates for 2014. Nothing in Yamaha’s announcement mentions any changes besides the color, so it’s a safe assumption these Race Blu models are otherwise the same as the 2013 models. On the other hand, it’s entirely possible that only the Race Blu versions are otherwise similar to last year’s models and Yamaha may still have some surprises in store.
The other piece of bad news is the Race Blu color options may only be available for Europe so North Americans may be out of luck. Again, we’ll have to wait and see for an official announcement from Yamaha Motor U.S.A.
Like last year, the 2014 Race Blu color scheme is inspired by the color of Yamaha’s factory MotoGP team and its YZR-M1 prototype. The 2014 Race Blu livery is almost like a reverse of last year’s livery, with a heavier emphasis on dark metallic gray with the Yamaha blue serving as highlights. Also new are a number of blue anodized components such as blue forks on certain models.
Apart from the two supersports, the Race Blu line includes the FZ8 and Fazer 8, the XJ6, XJ6 Diversion and XJ6 Diversion F (the European versions of the FZ6R with different fairings) and the new three-cylinder MT-09 (the European name for the FZ-09).
