....2003 Yamaha YZF600R "Thundercat" in silver and black. Google this model if you are not familiar. This has been a great bike for me, has never let me down but it's time to let it go. Has 12,050 miles.
Starts, idles, shifts and rides great. I've had a lot of fun with this bike but have not ridden it hard, no wheelies, burnouts, stunts or wrecks, it's been well taken care of. Oil change to Lucas full synthetic plus K&N oil filter, coolant flush and change and new gold 530 DID chain all less than 50 miles ago so all of that's basically brand new. I just polished it with Honda spray and polish and used 303 Aerospace protectant so it looks great. Has Dunlop sportmax qualifiers front and rear that still have a lot of life in them. Has excellent sounding Yoshimura pipe, Zero Gravity windshield and flush turn signals up front. Also has a great Flosser horn that works wonderful if you're concerned about getting cut off by anyone in traffic. This bike is ready to go you won't have to do anything to it. Clear title. Buying old nails with a view to restoration, that is. Wilfing away over the New Year, I spotted for sale a bike that, when new, I really fancied.

Tue, 24 Apr 2012Trawling the internet for a sound clip of the Crossplane Crank Yamaha R1 on full chatter, I came across this: a few fast laps on board with New Zealand Superbike racer Tony Rees as he works the CABS Throttle Blipper on his 2011 R1. (Skip to 7:35 for the fast ones.) CABS is a system used by Superbike teams that makes use of the R1’s digitally controlled throttle. When you change up a gear, the bike blips in the perfect amount of revs to save time on track and make downshifts as quick and easy as clutch-less upshifts.
Recall for 2009-2011 Yamaha V-Max
Fri, 30 Sep 2011Yamaha is issuing a recall campaign on certain 2009-2011 V-Max power cruisers due to a potential risk of oil pump malfunction. According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, abnormally high oil pressure can build up within the oil pump of certain Yamaha V-Max models. The high pressure may force the washer on the oil pump shaft against the oil pump housing, causing oil to stop pumping through the engine.
