Yamaha XJ550 description

You are looking at a 1981 Yamaha XJ550 SECA. This is a very rare and original bike. I bought this from a owner who kept it stored in his private collection. The bike has its original paint and decals,  and looks mostly unmolested to me except the seat cover, and tires. When I found the bike is was sitting for over a year. The gas was drained before it was parked. I was able to shoot a quick video of it running for the first time with just adding some power and fresh gas. I am still going to list her as a non running project. From what I saw she will need at least a new battery, and new clutch cable, before riding or running again.  The bike has a clean Florida title that matches the bikes VIN.  I will now let my slideshow and video I provided in the listing do the talking. You must use a regular computer or laptop to see the slideshow and video.  They will not show up with apps, phones, or some tablets. Click on the view all tab at the bottom of the slideshow to see all the pictures.

This is a NO RESERVE auction. No warranties expressed or implied , and a as is where is sale. Feel free to have the motorcycle inspected if you like.  All sales are final, and there are no refunds or returns, and inspections are recommended. Bike comes with a clear title from previous owner, that matches the bikes VIN. Full payment is do within 7 days after the auction has ended. Buyer must also contact me within 2 days after the auction has ended to set up a time for payment and pickup. Bike must be picked up in Tampa FL. As long as the bike is paid for in full within 7 days after the auction has ended, then she can sit here for up to two months, but would like it picked up as soon as possible. Please look at all of the pictures, including the slideshow pictures, and ask all questions before bidding as I will be happy to answer them.  Thank you and happy bidding!

Rossi 'training' at his MotoRanch

Mon, 30 Jan 2012

Like Kenny Roberts, Valentino Rossi has got his own ranch where he has built his own private motocross track and dirt oval. The above YouTube video shows Rossi training on the flat-track circuit that makes up his 'MotoRanch' located near his home town of Tavullia. He's shown riding a Yamaha, but that's probably because Ducati don't have themselves a scrambler.

Yamaha Files Trademark Application for FJ-09

Mon, 03 Mar 2014

Yamaha‘s next three-cylinder motorcycle may be a sport-tourer, if a recently-filed trademark application is any indication. The Tuning Fork brand filed a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the name “FJ-09” as it applies to “Motorcycles, scooters, three-wheeled scooters and structural parts for all the aforesaid goods.” Following Yamaha’s usual naming conventions, the signs indicate the trademark will be for a new sport-touring model using the same Triple as the FZ-09. Yamaha has made it clear it plans to introduce more three-cylinder engines following the FZ-09 (or MT-09, as it is known in Europe.) Previously-filed trademark applications for the YZF-R3 and R3 names raised speculation the next triple would be a sportbike, but as per Yamaha’s usual naming convention, the “3″ in R3 is likelier to refer to the engine displacement rather than the number of cylinders.

Geeky snippets ahead of the Phillip Island MotoGP

Tue, 13 Oct 2009

Valentino Rossi has finished on the podium eleven times in his twelve visits to Phillip Island across all three GP classes. The only race at Phillip Island that he did not finish in the top three was on his first visit riding a 125cc machine in 1997 when he finished sixth. In 1998 and 1999 he won the 250cc races and since then has had nine podiums in the premier-class including five victories, the last of which was in 2005.
