Yamaha SR description

1981 Yamaha SR500. Great vintage custom. Has many special additions to bike.
Engine is fresh rebuilt big bore 534 with a stage 2 megacycle cam. less than 200 miles on engine.
Has aluminum swingarm and rear sets. Sargent seat and new ignition. A very nice pipe imported from Japan. Parts on the bike exceed sale price. I just do not ride it anymore.

Intermot 2012: Yamaha Unveils Crossplane Triple Concept

Yamaha announced it is developing a new three-cylinder engine using a crossplane crankshaft inherited from the company’s YZR-M1 MotoGP bike and its YZF-R1 sportbike. Yamaha says the new Triple will play an important role in the company’s future. The Japanese manufacturer unveiled a concept sculpture with the new three-cylinder engine at the 2012 Intermot show in Cologne, Germany.

Yamaha Focusing on Developing Model Platforms

Following the success of its MT platform, Yamaha says it will continue to develop new models based on shared platforms, allowing for a choice of multiple models while reducing overall costs. Speaking in a presentation on the company’s business operation, Yamaha Motor President Hiroyuki Yanagi reiterated the strategy of developing multiple models sharing the same engine and frame. Honda has followed a similar strategy with its NC models, seeing the platform evolve to include the CTX700 and NM4.
