Apparently winning isn’t enough to pay the bills any more, not even if the victory comes at the storied Daytona 200. The 2012 Daytona 200-winning Project 1 Atlanta team has folded after unable to secure funding for the rest of the season. Project 1 Atlanta, and racer Joey Pascarella, stunned AMA Pro Racing fans with a Cinderella story victory at the Daytona 200.

Ryan Villopoto moved one step closer to repeating as AMA Supercross Champion with his seventh win of the season at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada. With his chief rivals not making the trip north of the border due to various injuries, Villopoto can clinch the 2012 championship as soon as next weekend’s race at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas, if they continue to be out of action. This picture of me chasing Foggy on the Daytona banking in 1991 brought back some bitter sweet memories recently. I did half a season as his team mate on the Silkolene RC30s before scurrying off to Japan to ride a factory Yamaha Superbike. I’ve never been a quitter but I felt the team that year was gear stretched running two riders so it was a case of last in first out.
