Yamaha DT 250 description

For Sale is a great 1973 Yamaha DT 250 motorcycle. Barn find original survivor!!! This was converted to a MX bike at some point early on, someone removed the endure lights and low metal front fender, also added aftermarket performance exhaust for motocross racing. Has the MX fork brace and original vintage silver plastic MX front fender with mud flap. Looks to be complete except for clutch lever. Bike isn't perfect and has some dings, dents, marks, scuffs, scratches, etc. from use and storage, but overall decent original condition as seen in pics. A little Dirty and dusty from spending the last 30+ years tucked away in a barn!  Gas Tank  paint is dirty but still shiny! Engine is free, kicks over with lots of compression. Tires even still hold air! Shouldn't take much to get this bike going again! Great candidate for restoration or vintage race bike. Great winter project! Hard to find in this original untouched condition. Priced to move fast. Bikes in similar or worse condition  have recently sold for $1000+. Due to the age and mechanical nature of this item it is being sold as-is, in as found condition with no warranties said or implied. Will be sold with Bill of Sale only. Local pick up in Lansing, Mi area or may be willing to deliver/ meet part way for pick up for a small fee if pre arranged with seller before bidding. Item is also for sale locally so seller reserves the right to end this listing if sold locally. $500 deposit via paypal is due immediately upon end of auction, and remainder must be paid in full cash upon pick up within 7 days of auctions end, unless pre arranged with seller. Good Luck Bidding and Happy Trails.

Yamaha Announces AMA Road Racing Teams For 2013

Wed, 30 Jan 2013

Today, Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA, has announced its U.S. road racing teams to compete in the 2013 GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Racing season, which kicks off in March at the famed Daytona International Speedway.  Superbike In the AMA Pro National Guard Superbike division, Yamaha is fielding “Team Josh,” as three-time and defending class champion, Josh Hayes once again teams up with Josh Herrin, the 2012 AMA Rookie of the Year. Despite setting single-season records for the most SuperBike wins, the most consecutive SuperBike wins, and the most SuperBike poles, the elder Josh hasn’t lost any of his competitive fire. During the off-season, Josh signed a two-year contract to stay with Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha because he loves the team and he still feels that he’s got a lot of unfinished business to attend to.

This picture of me chasing Foggy on the Daytona banking in 1991 brought back some bitter sweet memories recently. I did half a season as his team mate on the Silkolene RC30s before scurrying off to Japan to ride a factory Yamaha Superbike. I’ve never been a quitter but I felt the team that year was gear stretched running two riders so it was a case of last in first out.
