Yamaha Ct1 description

Up for auction is my nice running 1973 Yamaha CT3 175 Enduro.  This bike does not have a title. I had to list something in the box above.  This overall is a very nice and original bike, and even has it's original lights and gauges.  The bike fires right up and has excellent compression.  Has a nice strong powerband and a surprising amount of power for a 175.  Carries the front end in 1st and 2nd gear.  The clutch does slip in the higher rpms in 3rd through 5th gear.  I recently aquired this bike, the previous owner had the bike stored without gas in it for the past 10 years. Prior to it's storage it had a tune up at a motorcycle shop, including points and timing set.  Just added some fuel, checked oil levels, and it fired right up.  Previous owner stated that the clutch didn't slip before being stored.  So chances are good that with a weekend of riding the clutch may start to grab better.  Brakes work excellent front and rear. No suspension oil leaks.  Inside of gas tank is very clean and won't require any sealer.  Chrome is very nice, wheels are excellent as are the spokes and the hubs, very nice and bright.  Bike is nice and straight, not all banged up.  Not a show winner at this time, but with a little paint touch up and some additional cleaning it could be. I also have the buddy seat that attaches to the top of the rear rack, that seat also has a tear.

The trip reset on speedo is missing. No battery so I can't check the lights.  Seat cover is torn, but foam is good.  Gas tank has some fading on the top along with some scratches and dings.  Gas tank petcock doesnt actually turn off, so gas always travels through the fuel line.  Carb bowl gasket leaks if it sits over night with the gas turned on.  Simply needs a bowl gasket and a petcock replacement or rebuild, all available at a low cost here on ebay.  One rear footpeg is missing.  Slight oil leak at the clutch cover gasket, drips a few drops after sitting a few days.  Just trying to point out all the negative items, so there aren't any surprises for the highest bidder.

Overall a very nice bike, that just needs a small amount of time and money invested to take to the next level.  Or simply ride it how it sits, it's certainly ready to hit the trails.

Buyer to pay with cash upon pickup.  Or money order/ Cashiers check if you are having it shipped.  Deposit through paypal.  I will ship the bike but you will have to make all the arrangments.  Please check into shipping before you bid on the bike.

Stats ahead of Estoril MotoGP round

Wed, 27 Apr 2011

The MotoGP circus moves into it's tenth appearance at the Estoril circuit, with the Portugease circuit playing host to a Grand Prix event in each of the previous nine years since the introduction of the four-stroke MotoGP formula at in 2002. Below is a reminder of the highlights of the previous nine MotoGP races held at Estoril: 2002 – Having won the last 500cc GP race at Estoril in 2001, Valentino Rossi (Honda) won the first of the MotoGP races held at the circuit. This was a race that was run in very wet conditions and Sete Gibernau had led for most of the race only to crash out with four laps to go.

Anti clockwise Knockhill and riding in the North East with GP winners.

Wed, 06 Jun 2012

I was both nervous and excited for my first ever reverse direction track day last week at Knockhill. From rushing downhill into the left hand off camber hairpin to sweeping up onto the start/finish, nothing bears any resemblance to riding round clockwise. I actually raced my 350LC in the opposite direction in 1982 but it still took a few laps to get my head round what essentially is a brand new track for Scotland.
