The event is the first of a three-race series that will crown overall champions in two individual race classes: Pro Superbike and Dynojet Pro Sportbike. The Superbike Shootout is a three-race series meant to fill the long void in the AMA Pro Roadracing schedule between round one at Daytona and the second round at Road America.

For the second year running, three-time World Superbike champion, Troy Bayliss’, self-titled slick track motorcycle race was full of action. Bayliss didn’t win the title easily, as American, and 2009 AMA Grand National champion, Sammy Halbert, set the fastest time during Superpole and challenged the Australian for the first half of the 21-lap race.

WSBK 2013: Assen Race Report

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Tom Sykes earned his first win of the 2013 season and came a hair short of a double victory at the World Superbike Championship round at Assen in the Netherlands. Traditionally a fast starter and qualifier, Sykes started on the pole once again at Assen and had strong starts in both races. But unlike the first two rounds where he started strong before fading, the Kawasaki factory rider was able to remain at the front in both races at Assen and earn some valuable championship points.
