Triumph Tiger description

You are bidding on a 1976 Triumph Tiger (TR7RV).  The bike is basically stock, except for the following changes:
-carburettor which has been replaced with a Mikuni
-side panels
-headlight & headlight cowl
-taillight
-small turn signals
-The previous owner rewired it and installed a Sparx ignition, and put a few information labels you'll see on the bike

The bike has recently had a new head gasket installed - I have ridden it about 50 miles since that was installed, long enough to retorque the head, and I try to ride it at least every other day because its fun - and to keep it limber for its next owner!

It runs well, shifts cleanly, sounds great.

There are three visual but not functional defects which are apparent in the photographs:
- the front brake rotor has lost some chrome the shape of the brake pucks when at some point in its previous life it must have been parked a while
-the rear brake rotor is scratched
-The tank has one small pint chip out of it.

1976 was the first year the Tiger was offered with left side gear shifter, which makes this a nice step into old British bikes without having to go through the right side shifting transition which can be a bit treacherous if you're not used to it.  The bike is basically standard (except as noted in the condition notes) but if I've missed something obviously non-stock in the photos, please send me a message and I'll update the listing!

If you win the auction, I will require a $500 deposit via Paypal within 48 hours of closing the auction.   The balance will need to be paid in cash prior to the bike leaving my property, or by personal check which must clear before the bike can leave.  I unfortunately cannot assist with shipping arrangements other than helping to load the bike into a truck or trailer.    The title is clear and in my name.

I like the bike, but am selling it to purchase something newer.   The bike is listed locally also, and I reserve the right to terminate this listing should a successful deal be struck locally.

Thanks for looking!

New Triumph joins the family this Friday

Tue, 23 Mar 2010

With the nights drawing out it feels like an end to what has been a very long winter. I’ve been getting the train to work recently and if you’ve used London’s tube network in rush hour then you’ll know what I mean when I say the words ‘inhuman over crowding’. I had a call from the Triumph factory in Hinckley today and the good news is my new staff bike will be ready for collection on Friday.
