Suzuki gt550 description

Less than 5000 original miles. Internal oil mixing system.

This is an “Unmolested” Colorado motorcycle with a clean Colorado title.

The bike runs beautifully and is an excellent example of the model. Truly the "muscle car" of motorbikes with that fabulous exhaust growl.

This motorcycle is a time machine of what these bikes looked like when they left the factory. A completely original survivor that I purchased from the original owner’s son and wife after his passing. Has the local Colorado dealer sticker, original tool pouch, all factory "warning" stickers, shop manual, owner’s manual and some of the original dealer paperwork. If you know about these bikes you know you will seldom see them in this condition!!! The chrome and aluminum on this machine are in ridiculously good shape-not just for its age, but period! The bike was kept inside and adult owned its entire life. The original exhaust pipes are the visual highlight of the machine because of their amazing–rust free condition!!

Original paint was kept on to allow the future owner to decide how they want to preserve this classic. The tank is in great shape but the paint and decals are faded somewhat compared to the side covers- which are near perfect. The asking price is reduced proportionally to allow for tank paint if desired.

This is not a “beginner’s” bike! It is very fast and requires attention to the period details of owning a 2-stroke! The word “original” is not overused in these descriptions!

Mechanically the bike has had quite a bit of renewing verses restoring. New parts have been replaced using NOS (New Old Stock from Factory) parts whenever available and practical.

Work and parts are listed below;

Carburetors were professionally rebuilt with NOS floats and gaskets, tuned and synchronized.

Compression tested strong with all three cylinders within 3 pounds of each other.

New battery. New exhaust header gaskets. New foot peg rubbers. New battery and tank hold-downs.

New oil installed in engine lower end/transmission. New spark plugs.

New NOS fuel petcock, Tank flushed and cleaned (not coated with epoxy), air filters renewed.

New front brake pads installed and master cylinder cleaned, inspected and new fluid installed. Stops very well!!

New front brake light switch. New rear brake shoes.

Rear wheel had spokes tightened and re-trued/inner tube replaced by “Woody’s Wheel Works". in Colorado

Clutch inspected, cleaned and adjusted. New polished stainless steel allen bolts for all side covers (these bolts are probably the only items on this bike that is not stock!).

New headlight chrome ring (to change over from Vetter Fairing installed at dealer).

Countless hours of researching, polishing, and cleaning (just ask my wife LOL).

I have been checking the prices on these bikes for sale around the world for the last 6 months and have concluded based on others for sale that this one would be listed at $5000 to $6000 with the tank paint and tank decals redone. I have the luggage rack and padded backrest that were installed by the dealer in 1974 that are included with this bike at no additional charge!!

This is a hobby of mine to find special motorcycles, get them back on the road, and in the hands of the people that will appreciate and care for them!!!

With three different racers tasting victory in the first three rounds of the 2014 AMA Supercross Championship, the season was shaping up to be one of the deepest and most competitive fields we’ve seen. But at Round Four at O.o Coliseum in Oakland, Calif., Ryan Villopoto showed why he remains the top dog, leading each lap for his second win of the season. The Kawasaki rider only trailed at the very start of the race, as Honda rider Vince Friese took the holeshot with Yamaha‘s Justin Brayton slotting in second through the first corner.
