MV Agusta To Race BSB In 2013

News from Varese, Italy, has MV Agusta making a return to racing, choosing the British Superbike Championship as the series where it will campaign two factory-backed entries. The British Superbike Championship (or BSB) is arguably the most exciting domestic series in the world. It implemented new rules for 2012 designed to keep costs manageable by limiting the modifications allowed, which has resulted in tight racing the whole year.

Developed by heavyweight designer Massimo Tamburini and Claudio Castiglioni, the director of MV Augusta, the F4CC will be the most expensive and limited sportbikes made so far. Parts for the bike will be 90% hand crafted out of titanium and carbon fiber, only 100 vehicles will be produced which will feature a 200 hp, 1078 cc engine with a top speed of 195 mph and a Curb weight of 412 lbs. MV Agusta Explains Loss of California License

Earlier this month, the Occupational Licensing division of the California Department of Motor Vehicles caused a bit of a kerfuffle in the motorcycle world when the agency’s monthly newsletter announced that MV Agusta had lost its license to sell motorcycles in the state of California. This is not the sort of announcement you’d expect about a well-known, premium brand of motorcycle. The ruling essentially forbids any of MV’s dealers from selling any new motorcycles.
