Kawasaki KZ200 description
This classic 1978 Kawasaki KZ200 is truly one-of-a kind. The bike started out as an ultra-low mileage stock KZ200 before undergoing subtle customization that turned this into a dependable, classic, head-turning motorcycle. The original light blue finish was stripped from the super clean fuel tank and side covers. A beautiful deep, rich blue color was then applied followed by a clear coat by Marcus Mooney at Mooney Autobody eXperts. The painted pieces were hand sanded and polished to a mirror-like finish. The finish is outstanding and in the sunlight looks stunning. Following the color application, the pieces were taken to the 2015 AutoRama lifetime achievement award winner, Tom VanNortwick. Tom’s work has been featured in magazines such as Hot Rod, Street Rodder, Popular Hotroding and many more. (See Tom’s work at welloiledmachines.com) Tom mixed some custom colors and spent a few hours laying down the amazing stripes by hand on the tank and an elegant stripe on each of the side covers. A beautiful work of art by one of the all-time greats in the industry. Originally, this bike was purchased from “Mike’s Cycles” in 1978, so special care was taken to retain the dealer emblem on the stock gas cap, to pay a bit of homage to the originality and history of the bike. The stock taillight bracket was sectioned, flattened and smoothed out to accept a reproduction stainless steel 1930 Ford Model “A” tail light, complete with a glass lens and blue dot. The stock turn signals were removed and custom chromed bullet turn signal indicators were added to both the front and rear to give the bike a streamlined, classic feel. Mechanically, it’s practically a new motorcycle. With only 4738 miles, it’s barely broken in. The motorcycle has new tires, brakes and battery, just to be safe. It also has had a new spark plug installed and an oil change, to keep everything fresh. Starts right up and runs like a watch. As you would expect, everything functions as it should, from the disc brakes, to the electric start, to all the lights…even the horn, it is 100% ready for the road. In the end, we transformed a cookie cutter, run of the mill, 1970’s era KZ200 in to a tasteful, beautiful and timeless classic. Here is your opportunity to not be just another face in the crowd, while having a dependable, easy to ride, economical motorcycle. This bike is the perfect commuter motorcycle, a great bike for the beginning or smaller rider, or simply a fun toy to have that is not like everyone else’s. Oh hi there Mobil!
Wed, 07 Mar 2012There was a time when Grand Prix racing was a lucrative affair, with the bikes and their riders resembling the fag packets that sponsored them. However, two unfortunate and costly blows hit the paddock; the banning of tobacco advertising in 2005 followed by the global economic crisis. The off-shoot saw grid numbers drastically dwindle with staple teams, like Kenny Roberts' outfit, and manufacturers, Kawasaki and Suzuki, succumbing to the events and disappearing.

Mon, 11 Jun 2012Ryan Farquhar earned his third ever Isle of Man TT win in the return of the Lightweight TT class. Absent since the 2009 Isle of Man TT with 250cc machines, the 2012 iteration of the Lightweight class features 650cc twins such as the Kawasaki Ninja 650 (or ER-6F, as it’s known on that side of the Pond) which most competitors rode. The race was moved back to Saturday, June 9, after rain forced organizers to cancel the initially-scheduled Friday race.
