Bike has been in storage for 5 years. After a little work, the bike is running fine; however, it has a coolant leak, most likely at the water pump. Engine oil can be contaminated with water. I have purchased the two water pump seals; however, I have not installed them. They will be sold with bike. Bike exterior appears to be in really good shape, plastics are a little faded with some minor scratches. Side motor case has been repainted. Rear tire in good shape, front tire is weathered from age and forks have leaked at some point. Overall in very good shape for it's age and not being restored. Bike is sold as is. Mick Doohan NSR500 art sculpture
Wed, 04 Apr 2012How do you best immortalise the great Mick Doohan and the big bang Honda NSR500 with which he dominated Grand Prix racing in the 90s? An Australian artist has answered this by creating an art installation that sees a hand-created replica of the bike exploded and suspended from the ceiling. The Doohan piece is appropriately titled 'The Big Bang' and as artist Eamon O'Tootle describes, "It is a complex sculpture comprising thousands of parts joining to make up a whole and symbolic tribute to the true inherent nature of art and sport – the creativity of design, where the mechanical is modified to suit the needs of man." Eamon added: "The way the Doohan piece came about was that one of the bikes Mick rode had an engine configuration called the Big Bang.

Tue, 18 Sep 2012Been blasting all around the UK on my Crosstourer DCT this summer. The bike is mega in a Range Rovery-posh and grunty kind of a way. But it’s that engine and gearbox that transcend the normal into new realms of brilliance. I’ve been doing my best not to bore people too much about DCT but it’s hard.

Thu, 14 Jul 2011Suzuka was always one of the great circuits; unfortunately the Japanese track was dropped following the tragic death of Daijiro Kato in 2003 as the course was deemed too tight and dangerous for the rapid four-strokes. Owned by Honda, Suzuka is a magical place combining arching S-bends from the start of the lap, high-speed in the middle and finished off with the technical and oft racing deciding final chicane, the location of many fantastic last lap battles. However the death of Kato, and Honda’s major hope of a Japanese champion, placed a dark cloud over the 5.807 kilometres of tarmac.
