Harley-Davidson Chopper description

This bike started life as a 2005 Buell that had been wrecked. The only remaining part of the Buell is the Harley Davidson Sportster engine. I included a few pictures taken during the construction, one was the first test ride without the seat finished. It was built on an Atlas softail frame and has the following features:

1. A Mikuni HSR 42 carburetor and custom air cleaner. The original HD CV carb wasn't much good with the new pipes.
2. A Thunderheart performance wiring harness.
3. Custom fabricated exhaust with removable baffles that have been wrapped. Nobody likes getting burned on a set of hot pipes. You'll probably want to leave those baffles in too. It's really loud without them. Sounds great in town. Not so great when you're riding across Wyoming.
4. A Battery Tender lithium iron phosphate battery with the charging adapter mounted.
5. A killer set of West Coast Choppers Doom wheels. Really. Those wheels look great on that bike. I love those wheels.
6. Accutronix forward controls.
7. A swing arm mounted rear fender.
8. Dakota Digital LED speedometer/tachometer.
9. Inverted forks from RC components.
10. Willwood brakes.

I built this bike for my wife and sons to ride. Its been to Sturgis once the last time my son and I went. It attracted a lot of attention because you just won't see anything else quite like this.

The bike starts and runs well, but I think it may need a slightly bigger main jet. I'm no expert on tuning Mikuni's though. The paint on the tank has some fogging of the clear coat caused by a gas spill. It you want it to be perfect you'll have to spend a lot more on a new custom softail sportster, or you can polish/re-clear the tank.

I'm selling this bike, and others, because I am unable to ride them after four heart surgeries. It will need fresh gas and an oil change. The battery is about two years old and it still starts well. The bike is much lower than a stock HD Sportster. It is ideal for women or any guy who wants a lowered seat height.

Fri, 09 Mar 2012

The Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines racing team unveiled its restyled V-Rod drag motorcycles ahead of the first Pro Stock Motorcycle round of the 2012 NHRA Full Drag Racing series. Reigning champion Ed Krawiec and Andrew Hines will compete for the Harley-Davidson team on new V-Rod drag bikes, restyled to more closely resembled the Night Rod Special production model. This marks the first restyling of Harley-Davidson’s NHRA competition bikes since the V-Rod entered the competition in 2002, and comes as The Motor Company celebrates the V-Rod’s 10th anniversary.“The goal was to make the drag racing motorcycles look more like the current production Night Rod Special motorcycle,” says Kris Schoonover, Harley-Davidson racing manager.
