Ducati Superbike description

This is the last bike being sold off from a 78 year old doctor's private collection. He is selling off all the bikes that he cannot ride anymore.

This 2000 Ducati 996 SPS is an original SPS that was crashed in 2000, and a new frame was ordered from Ducati as a race frame. It was then titled as a special construction frame, and blue tag'd by CHP. This is NOT a salvage bike, the bike had a 2 mph crash with the Doctor riding. The title is clean and clear.

This engine was built by Scott Jenkins at Desmoto Sport in SF. It has a lightened and knife-edged crank, the Pankl titanium rods were refreshed, a light weight flywheel, and the entire rotating assembly was balanced. It has Pistal pistons, and a full Corse Close Ratio transmission. The heads are factory Corse built and from the HMC Ducati team in 2001. They were built by legendary engine builder Charlie Putz (WSB and MotoGP Ducati engine builder) Berylium bronze seats, huge valves, although the cams were replaced with a more streetable version. Slipper clutch, cut away clutch housing etc etc

The engine has 3300 miles on it, and has just had the major service, including valves and belts.

Exhaust is a Termi full system, Airbox is a Carbo-Tech structural airbox, adding to the chassis rigidity.

The forks and shock (both ohlins) have been redone, with the forks getting a superbike cartridge kit, and the shock service. The steering damper is likewise Ohlins.

Marchesini Magnesium Wheels. Spiegler floating rotors.

The Caliper are very special, from Miguel Duhamel's Factory RC-45 Daytona Bike, and are spectacular as far as power and feel go.

Quick Change rear sprocket kit, 520 chain.
It has all the usual carbon fiber baubles, bit and addons.

Billet Rearsets, Heli Bars, and a redone seat that added one inch of leg room. (he rode this bike until he was 77)

He has spent over $85,000 on this bike and the parts on it, He wants it gone before he changes his mind

Q3 2013 US Motorcycle Sales Results

Fri, 01 Nov 2013

Motorcycle and scooter sales in the U.S. in 2013 remain consistent with last year’s figures, according to data released by the Motorcycle Industry Council. Several manufacturers blamed poor weather for the poor start this year, and the rebounding sales in the third quarter helped to negate the slow sales from earlier in the year.

1199R: wrapped and ready

Tue, 12 Mar 2013

Here's a pic from inside the Ducati factory in Bologna. These Ducati 1199R Panigales are destined for the USA; the bikes are being shipped to Texas for the 1199R launch at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA). The picture above reminds me of the picture on the right, which was one of the first wallpapers I had on my PC way back in 1997.
