Bimota Vdue description
Excellent orignal condition ready to rebuild and restore. Ceriani,Brembo,Marzocchi, Dellorto, 4C cams twin Voxbell's. I purchased this in 1987 at the time the mileage was ~20K but instruments were damaged and not mounted or connected so I rebuilt them with donor Honda 750 internals and covers so the faceplates do not match and actual mileage is unknown. While warming it up one morning in my driveway on my way to work in 1995 with choke on @fast idle the engine made a loud noise then died unexpectedly spinning down like I turned it off? after a few basic checks I drained the oil and found the cam chain masterlink plate along with the spring clip which was broken into 2 pieces, I purchased a new HD chain from MotionInd and installed it but immediately had difficulty setting the free play and it appeared improper adjustments in the past had egged the lower can chain drive gear causing the free play to change as the engine was rotated. The compression test showed normal in outer cyls but indicated 0 in the middle so I brought center cylinder to TDC firing and injected compressed air into the spark plug hole, it came out thru the lower cam chain guide opening in the bottom of the engine cases so the middle piston was punctured or ventilated by a valve when the chain came apart and it has been parked since. The drive chain sidecase included was swapped from a older 1000 and has been welded and the starter was also swapped (case cracked welded) see pictures. Non stock items include the 3-1 exhaust which I built myself using a Large Muzzy slipon, the Alum blinker stalks with BMW blinker heads and the Magura throttle and kill button (for the starter) comes with 1 set of(3)keys for the ignition the seat and fork more pictures upon request $6000 Best offer! possible trade for Bimota, dirt\street tracker or Italian dirt bike have cash looking for Beta,TM racing,Gasgas, KTM, Husqvarna sorry no text,Thanks

1998 Bimota 500 Vdue
Fri, 04 Jan 2013How could you not love Bimota's 500 Vdue. Launched in 1998 at a cost of £14,500 it didn't so much come with a list of optional extras, more a lottery list of factory-spec problems, longer than the accessories list on a 1200GS. To me, it sums up Bimota perfectly: ambitious, exotic, problematic and almost impossible to justify and because of this: addictive and alluring.
