BMW R-Series description

I have here a 1965 R50/2. It sat for close to 20-25 years in a bard(yes barn find) the previous owner loved this bike and was his pride and joy. I purchased about a month ago and have spent most of my time cleaning her up, having carbs rebuilt, gas tank cleaned out(although not sure I completely liked how they did it, and it was the first time I used this company. Had cylinders soaked in oil several times to clear up any rust in cylinders before starting, has beautiful seat.

Started up bike today and it took only 3-4 kicks to get her running, bike fired right up, AWESOME STUFF!. And idled for quite some time with no kicks, sprerts or backfires, and as I don't know BMW's at all I am not sure what the idle should be!.

Headlight and tail light work as does the brake light. Bike has Bakelite keys and they seem to work with no problem, bike also has front kickstand, rear kickstand and center stand.

I replaced carb top cover with new part as the old one fell apart on disassembly. Bike will need pet cock rebuilt as the corking is shot on the inside, and two other things I noticed is the drive shaft boot needs to be replaced, and the rear brake is making a clicking noise.

This is now a perfect bike for a couple quick fix's or a full restore. See my other auctions for a full set of fairings, front, gas tank, and saddle bags.

To clarify I replaced the top carb cover on the left side only. Also take close look at pics as bike does have some rust, but I cleaned most of it up. Again, bike runs and idles, but could use resto if so desired.
