BMW F 650GS description

In 2009, BMW introduced their twin-cylinder F-series models. The F650GS is powered by a 798cc parallel two-cylinder engine that produces 71 bhp and 55 ft-lbs of torque. A chain drive and six-speed gearbox is used to transfer power to the 17-inch cast aluminum rear wheel. Front suspension is provided by 41 mm telescopic forks. The cast aluminum dual rear swingarm and a central spring strut provide rear suspension, featuring adjustable spring pre-load and adjustable rebound damping. Single disc front and rear brakes are controlled by the optional BMW Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS). This 2009 Flame Red BMW F650GS is also equipped with the Heated Hand Grips option.

That scraping sound you can hear is a mixture of a knee slider and the GoPro camera housing grazing the tarmac at Mugello. The footage was shot on-board the BMW Motorrad France Team Thevent machine ridden by Hugo Marchand, in testing ahead of the 2012 Endurance World Championship. He managed to wreck the housing that holds the GoPro camera after only three laps.

BMW posted another record quarter, reporting sales of 37,471 motorcycles in the three months ended June 30, 2011. First quarter unit sales were 3.6% higher than the 36,175 motorcycles sold in the same quarter of 2010. Combined with a record first quarter, BMW has sold 60,580 units in the first half of the year, a 6.3% increase over 2010.
